The feelin that comes after listening to our national anthem.. expressin it in words is almost impossible.. We won the world cup after 28 yrs.. celebrating on the streets, wearing the tricolor.. also getting the honor to wave out the tricolor in hand.. jus wow!!!! n realizing that every person around me is as happy as I am.. felt lik no one was a stranger than.. the way I felt for my country, everyone around me felt the same.. the air n the joy united us all.. I knew then wht I would b tellin my son.. this experience gave me a new way to look at the ppl around me.. yesss…. It was a victory for the nation that binds us.. our country binds us.. I knew if in joy so many would come out n express, in grief there would b way beyond this, as a nation we stand together…. Of course it did remind me the earth quake n tsunami that hit Japan, n everyone was out there to help.. God forbid, if smthg similar happens.. I knw.. I knw that all these ppl would equally walk up to help.. I knw I’m not a soldier who gets the honor to fight for the country, i'm not a leader who can serve the nation, I’m not an athlete who wins medals for the country, I’m not an actor who plays the ambassador of the nation, I’m not an artist who gives the country its recognition, I’m jus another citizen who is patriotic.. does thgs that are in his hand.. payin taxes on time, following rules, donating the needy.. doin my bit in my own way..
Patriotism is a huge term.. it talks abt the sacrifices made, the battles won.. the protest.. the humiliation suffered and the unity.. we say n hear the younger generation isn’t into patriotism much, but smhow we forget the ideals kept in front of them aren’t worth the respect and the dedication.. this generation requires ppl who are doin thgs now n not the ppl who have done for the nation.. for them the one who sacrificed themselves are a part of history pages.. the present scenario doesn’t give them the feel to do so.. it isn’t that today’s generation isn’t attracted to join the defense system or the political activities, but there isn’t smthg strong that drives them to it.. smthg that makes them rebel.. wht I saw on the streets after winnin the world cup was a force.. that was strong.. n it had the zest that could take anyone along.. from a 8 yr old kid.. to a 60 yr old grandpa.. the feelin shared was mutual.. the happiness was same, a moment of glory.. a sense of achievement.. at that point it didn’t matter wht your age was, whether you were a girl or boy.. or which religion you followed.. wht u’re qualified to b.. how much u earned.. or anythg else.. all that was important was that u cheered for India.
